With much success of the Honda brand, in March of 1986 Honda announced the introduction of Acura. The Acura brand was Honda’s way of tapping into the luxury market that the German auto manufacturers had dominated for so long. As the first Japanese automaker to jump into the foreign luxury market, Acura strived to carve their niche of luxury and performance automobiles. With the launch of the Acura Legend and Acura Integra, Acura officially became a luxury automobile manufacturer. Since 1986, Acura evolved with the current times and continued to produce stylish luxury vehicles that delivered on performance. Technology and performance boundaries were pushed when Acura introduced the mid engine sports car the Acura NSX, this vehicle was Acura’s first with its trademark VTEC engine. During 1999-2003, Acura added the TL, MDX and RSX models. Every Acura is built on a Honda platform but each delivered superior performance and handling. Starting in 2004 Acura added the RDX, RL and TSX to their lineup. With their evolution, Acura now offers Hybrid vehicles.
